Vocabulary books

I completed textbook work on vocabulary words with putting them in sentences and finding there definitions. I liked learning new vocabulary words that can help me to know in the future. The words wasn’t that hard to understand so I came up with sentences to put them in pretty easily. The hard part was doing page 7 in the textbook and filling in the blanks with the words. The words were repetitive with their meanings so it was hard figuring out which exact one I should put.

Benchmark day 2

Today we continued our benchmark in class and took notes on how to format our writing for the essay question. The notes were good and helped a lot for me to know about giving my claim and having evidence that validates it. I did not like how hard the text was to understand so I didn’t get to write much for the essay part to start with. Trying to make sense of a claim is hard when you don’t understand the text at hand, but hopefully I will write more later. Today was an okay day.

Benchmark

Today in class we completed questions 1-19 on the benchmark. I didn’t get to complete the questions all the way to question 19 because the second text was very long for me to read and I didn’t understand the first text very well. I tried my best to answer the questions with the most reasonable answers. All my classes are good and hoping I don’t get too much homework for the week.

Notes on Evidence

Today we took notes on Evidence and give great context in your evidence to back up the claim. We looked at a fake case on someone trying to get a man convicted of murder. In conclusion the evidence wasn’t that sufficient to support his verdict because there were too many holes in his evidence. Then we looked at O.J. Simpsons case with being accused of murdering his wife. I liked seeing the prosecutor make his claim and break it down for everybody to see how the other sides claim wasn’t good enough. Day is great, ready for the pep rally.

Notes & Illuminate

Class started off the class by doing an illuminate assessment. The assessment was on recognizing rhetorical appeals, explanations, and audience. We looked at commercial ads on YouTube and poster ads. I liked thinking about what I thought of the ads then hearing other people’s opinions on it and what they thought. It helped me to see how to differentiate between the three rhetorical appeals and learn them more. I plan to finish my test tomorrow and do well on it.

Notes

In class we took notes on arguments and its key foundations. We discussed how everything can be an argument and ways used to persuade a person. I liked retouching on pathos, ethos, and logos. I learned about them last year a lot but it was nice to be reminded of them.  Today is a great day for spirit week.

Vocabulary words

Today in class we did an assignment on putting vocabulary words into sentences. I was confused at first at which words to use so I started off doing my paper the wrong way, but soon or later I figured out the right way. I went on to look up the definitions for each word and place it in the most correct sentences that I thought. I struggled on some sentences with finding the perfect word but I tried my best to place them accordingly. Hopefully we get to go over it in class so I can see where I made mistakes.

Poem test

In class we took a test on Emily Dickinsons poems. I learned about more of her poems and answered questions about them. I didn’t understand some of them but tried my best to find a big idea in all them. I narrowed down my answers to the most knowledgeable ones that connect with the poem or quote. All of the big words made it hard to break it down but I tried to my best ability. In all my day was good and informative.

Assessment

In class we continued our Emily Dickinson poem quotes assessment on illuminate. It impacted me to try and do better when focusing on my work and getting done in a timely manner. I will hopefully improve on this skill as the year goes on. I struggled with finding analysis to explain my view point of the quotes. Classes are okay, ready for the weekend.

Poem Quotes

In class we took an assessment on Emily Dickinson poem quotes. I learned how to find main topics from quotes and make analysis. I will use this information to take better notes and annotations to my readings. I liked reading all the quotes and coming up with multiple themes and conflicts just from one sentence. My classes are mostly good this week.

Presenting one pager

Today in class I presented my one page on the poem “ This is my letter to the world, that never wrote back to me” by Emily Dickinson. When I presented I told the class information about my images and personal connections I had to the poem. I also retook my Origin myth test that felt pretty easy. I learned how to decide on multiple choice questions and narrow down the answers to the most important ones. I hope I did better on the retake than I did on the first one.

In class I finished my one pager.

Poem One pagers

In class today we made one pagers based off the Emily Dickinson poems we individually read. I related to my poem a lot and had many connections to make with the text. It was almost like seeing the world through someone’s else’s perspective in writing. A theme I took from this poem was that alienation from the world can cause you to think you are so far gone from it. I struggled with finding four quotes since it is a such a small poem. My day was good and I’m having a great day so far.
