 Today we did an individual assignment on careers and college. Our career research project was based off our prior assignments on picking a career and college to attend based on eachother. The project was pretty easy since it was basically copying and pasting work to the slides from our prior assignments. We also had to insert images corresponding to the information. This is a great slideshow to see all the information come together.

 Today in class we looked over a poem and held a discussion. The poem was about objects or things we depend on everyday that aren’t noticed as important. One of our themes we established was that even small things we think aren’t important can be very important. We then thought about the things we depend on in our everyday lives and wrote them down. I answered some questions about the poem after the discussion.

 Today in class we completed an article on Newsela about timekeepers. The article was an interesting read for me since I didn’t know how many factors contributed to how timekeepers settle time. After I read the article I wrote a prompt about an event presented in the text. Then I completed some power word activities in Newsela based on the article. I then completed the quiz.

 Today in class we discussed our assignment on college profile worksheet. In the assignment we have to pick a college in Atlanta or the whole state of Georgia. I picked Spellman College and researched some requirements and pay they have. I then evaluated some other colleges to compare and contrast with my chosen one. After reviewing all the information I learned a lot about things I should consider when applying for colleges senior year.

 Today in class we had independent work on Newsela to complete. The article I read today was about how footwear can have harmful effects on the environment. I never knew shoes could harm the environment until I read how in this article that gave a lot of good information. My idea on the subject now is that the world should move forward in making footwear more attractive to the environment if we want to keep a sustainable lifestyle. I completed the activities that went along with the article when I finished.

 Today we worked on an article in Newsela on artificial intelligence. The article was interesting to read and learn about someone working in the field of AI. The main topic of the article was humanizing artificial intelligence to have emotional intelligence implemented. For my written promo I wrote about the lady and her partner introduction into the article. After reading the article I think AI is still a questionable idea for the future.

 In class we had another Common Lit assignment to complete today. The story called ‘What makes good people do bad things?’ was the independent work. The story had questions that went along with the passage and a written response. The story was interesting to read since I never thought about why people might do evil things. I agree that everyone has the opportunity from birth to decide whether they want to good or evil in this world.

 Today we worked in Commonlit on a story called An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. As independent work we read the story and answer questions that follows up with it. The story had a great plot twist at the end and I think the in depth events taken place made the story believable. I couldn’t really determine the two themes so I picked the best ones I thought it could be. I got 10 out of the 13 questions correct.

 My spring break started off by visiting the balloon museum located in Atlanta with my mom and friend. It was a very fun experience and I enjoyed seeing all the art. I then rode in the car for about five hours to go see my family in South Carolina. The ride was long and tiring but it was on Easter Sunday so I had to stop by my great grandmothers house when I got there to get together with the family. We cooked on the grill outside, played in a bouncy house, played with the dog, and rode dirt bikes. I also went to the movies to Godzilla and King Kong movie with my some people. I was tired mostly so I slept in almost everyday of the break till the afternoon. On Saturday me and my nanna went up to Myrtle Beach with some other family members to the aquarium which was very nice. It was super cold in Myrtle Beach than I expected so it was kind of disappointing. My week off from school was nice and I got lots of rest.
