Cultural Poem


 In class we started off by taking an assessment on illuminate on Langston Hughes poems. Since we have been reading his poems the last few days we had to answer questions about them. I think I did kind of good for the most part. We then got introduced to our assignment on making a Culture Poem. I decided my topic of my poem would be the Lake of Stars Festival celebration that happens in African culture.

 Today in class we completed an article on Newsela about timekeepers. The article was an interesting read for me since I didn’t know how many factors contributed to how timekeepers settle time. After I read the article I wrote a prompt about an event presented in the text. Then I completed some power word activities in Newsela based on the article. I then completed the quiz.

Claims

 Today we worked on illuminate using our claims we wrote yesterday about the different topics. This time we used articles to support our claims with evidence from the text. I used the article to back up my claims with direct evidence and explained how they supported my claim. I then summarized and listed my source. I didn’t get them all done in class so I will do the rest later.
