Thursday

 On Thursday, we started off class by watching a video on Oprah Winfrey interviewing people in a town full of white people. The conclusion from this video that I made was that the people wanted to self segregate themselves in their town away from black people because they were racist. We then read and annotated three poems. I liked the first poem we read because I agree with the message being conveyed about black people being apart of America too if they are a citizen and have the same rights as everyone else. We defined some terms in another poem like freedom, refuge, and liberty.

 In class we started off by taking an assessment on illuminate on Langston Hughes poems. Since we have been reading his poems the last few days we had to answer questions about them. I think I did kind of good for the most part. We then got introduced to our assignment on making a Culture Poem. Commonlit

 Today we worked in Commonlit on a story called An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. As independent work we read the story and answer questions that follows up with it. The story had a great plot twist at the end and I think the in depth events taken place made the story believable. I couldn’t really determine the two themes so I picked the best ones I thought it could be. I got 10 out of the 13 questions correct.

 Today we worked on an article in Newsela on artificial intelligence. The article was interesting to read and learn about someone working in the field of AI. The main topic of the article was humanizing artificial intelligence to have emotional intelligence implemented. For my written promo I wrote about the lady and her partner introduction into the article. After reading the article I think AI is still a questionable idea for the future.
